How to Grow Your Crystal Healing Collection
Chances are you have collected some crystals and gem. You may choose them simply because you like the way they look, which is an important reason to choose gems. However, you now need to approach these stones with your intentions and some additional considerations.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money to build your collection. As you probably know, the cheapest stones are the small rolling stones sold at most metaphysics and rock stores. These are usually placed in small glass bowls or containers designated for each specific stone. Generally speaking, the larger the stone, the higher the price. I recommend starting a collection of rolling stones, it will be the easiest in your wallet.
While you’re in the tumbling stones (and bigger ones if you will), think about what you want to attract or change in your life – in other words, what you want to accomplish by using the crystal of your choice What? Think about what comes to mind every time you touch or look at a stone. Do you want stones to help you study and help you get better grades? Do you want to feel better about yourself? Do you want to feel better about making friends or how your friends and family treat you? Do you want to be more productive at work? You can use a stone to help any part of your life—your mind (spirit), feeling (emotion), body (physical), or your connection to the spiritual realm (spirit).
Continue to look at various stones. Let your higher self naturally be attracted to one of these. Go ahead and choose a gem by color and how attractive it is to you. If you think a stone is beautiful, or it piques your interest in some other way, pick it up and see if you like how it feels in your hand. Ask yourself, “How does this stone make me feel?” Begin your crystal work by using your intuition and feeling about the chosen stone, rather than searching for its description. After purchasing, use this book to find the myriad ways your particular gem can work for you. This information will shed light on why you are drawn to the gemstones of your choice and the many ways in which you can use these gems to further awaken your awareness. It will also help you understand how they can help or affect you on every level – mentally, spiritually, emotionally and physically.
It is recommended that you use your intuition when choosing which gems to add to your collection and which ones to use for any particular situation or intent; you will naturally know which stones are best for you. However, as a secondary resource, you can flip through this book and read about the various uses of stones in specific practices, and check out my other book, Chakra Awakening or The Essential Guide to Crystals, Minerals, and Stones to help you make Decide which gems to use for personal reasons.
Often after our careful selection, if a stone is “broken”, we may be frustrated. But when someone asks me what it means to have broken crystals, I say it means you have more crystals! Symbolically, for example, two pieces of rose quartz (which used to be one) can remind me that love multiplies and expands. Enjoy and use broken or chipped stones. They are still great tools for you.
